If someone asked you this question, what would you say? That’s what Gayle Hallgren-Rezac and Judy Thomson asked 140 women (and four brave men) at their recent sold out WLC ALL ACCESS™ luncheon event at the Terminal City Club.
With many WLC Advisory Board members acting as table hosts, everyone shared a fear they had overcome with others at their table. Then Gayle and Judy had each table report their findings to the rest of the audience.
So what do women fear? There was fear of networking, speaking in public, of failure, of the dark, of having to give someone really honest feedback on a performance review and even a fear of cats! To overcome her claustrophobia, one woman took up scuba diving. Another said that when her fear feels like a rock in her stomach, she visualizes herself standing on that rock. Now that’s powerful thinking!
Probably one of the most moving moments was when one young woman spoke of how she confronted a difficult diagnosis of endometriosis and the fear that the disease would rob her of having children. She said her choice was to take control of her health and make diet and lifestyle changes. She shared how she fought back, regained her health and then announced to the group that she was now seven weeks pregnant.
The magic of these All Access sessions is that those who attend, because they are sharing more than just surface conversations, truly connect with one another. Gayle and Judy call it "peeling back the onion." There is a very special energy in the room after these events. See summary and photos.

NO MORE CHOCOLATE GUILT
With Valentine’s Day being this month, isn’t it good to know that eating a small amount of dark chocolate daily can be good for you? Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, a natural compound found in cocoa beans. Flavonoids act as an antioxidant, help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide and balance certain hormones in the body. However, the more chocolate is processed, the fewer flavonoids it contains. That’s why milk chocolate, which is diluted with milk, has less flavonoids and white chocolate has none. If no-one gives you chocolates, send yourself a box.
